Aprovechamos la visita de la profesora Jinyu Liu, de la Universidad DePauw (Indiana), para organizar una charla-coloquio informal que tendrá lugar el jueves, día 11 de julio, en el aula 15 de la Facultad de Geografía e Historia entre las 12 y las 14 horas.
Aparte de la Biblioteca Digital Ovidiana que organiza el evento, nos dan su apoyo institucional la SEEC de Galicia y nuestro grupo de investigación Síncrisis.
Esto se plantea básicamente como una oportunidad de entrar en contacto con una realidad fascinante como son los Estudios Clásicos en China y el gran proyecto de traducción de la obra de Ovidio que están llevando a cabo allí, además de la ocasión para volver a encontramos con la profesora Liu a la que algunas ya conocemos. Professor Jinyu Liu (刘津瑜 or 刘津渝) is a Professor of Classical Studies at DePauw University. She has a Ph.D. in Ancient History from Columbia University (2004) and regularly teaches Roman Civilization and Latin at DePauw. Her research interests include social relations in Roman cities, the non-elite in the Roman Empire, Latin epigraphy, as well as the reception of Graeco-Roman classics in China. Her monograph «Collegia Centonariorum: the Guilds of Textile Dealers in the Roman West» was published by Brill in 2009. Sponsored by a Mellon New Directions Fellowship, a DePauw Faculty Fellowship and other grants, she is currently completing a book-length project on the translation history of Graeco-Roman classics in China. In 2014, she was selected as one of the Shanghai «1000 plan» experts. She is currently the Principal Investigator of «Translating the Complete Corpus of the Roman Poet Ovid into Chinese with Commentaries», a multi-year project sponsored by a National Social Sciences Fund of China Major Grant (2015-2020).
