Entre el 29 de noviembre y 1 de diciembre de 2018 Rebeca Blanco Rotea estará en Barcelona, en el International Workshop «From battlefields to memory sites: Conflict archaeology through the ages» organizado por Jordi Principal (Museu d’Arqueologia de Catalunya), Manuel Fernández-Götz (University of Edinburgh) y Antoni Ñaco del Hoyo (ICREA-Universitat de Girona).
Presentará la ponencia «The invisibility of woman in Conflict Archaeology. Reflections from an audiovisual project» junto con Sara Traba.
Resumen:
El trabajo aquí presentado se enmarca, por una parte, dentro de los intereses de investigación del colectivo RomanArmy.eu y, por otra, dentro del proyecto postdoctoral «Frontier landscapes in Early Modern Age: from Archaeology to Society (FLandS)». Ambos tienen en común su interés por la Arqueología del conflicto.
A RomanArmy intenta explorar nuevas vías de investigación basadas en la experimentación y la innovación. Se centra en la producción de conocimiento y en la socialización de la investigación. Le preocupa la interacción con las comunidades locales, alas que intenta hacer partícipe de esa producción de conocimiento. El colectivo comparte una visión de la ciencia democrática, dinámica, abierta, feminista y en la idea de que esta debe contribuir a mejorar la sociedad creando una ciudadanía más crítica e informada. FLandS se orienta desde una perspectiva interdisciplinar hacia la comprensión de los paisajes fortificados de época moderna y el interés de convertir estos paisajes en un recurso socioeconómico, turístico y cultural sostenible, donde la mujer juegue un papel central.
Uno de los aspectos que preocupa a ambas estructuras de investigación es la ausencia del colectivo femenino tanto en los procesos de producción de conocimiento relacionados con la arqueología del conflicto, como en el consumo de esta arqueología como tema de interés. Con la idea de explorar esta ausencia y suscitar una reflexión e interés por parte de la mujer, se aprovechó una intervención llevada a cabo en una zona fronteriza de Galicia por un equipo integrado por miembros de RomanArmy, FLandS y de las comunidades locales, para rodar un cortometraje por parte de una mujer ajena a la arqueología, la directora de cine Sara Traba. Presentamos el teaser de este audiovisual que reflexiona desde el proyecto sobre nuestra actividad, sobre cómo nos relacionamos con las comunidades locales, sobre la ausencia de la mujer y la construcción de relatos desde la arqueología.
Abstract:
This work is framed, on the one hand, within the research interests of the RomanArmy.eu collective and, on the other, within the postdoctoral project «Frontier landscapes in Early Modern Age: from Archaeology to Society (FLandS)». Both have in common their interest in the Conflict Archaeology .
RomanArmy tries to explore new channels of research based on experimentation and innovation. It focuses on the production of knowledge and the socialization of research. It is concerned with interaction with local communities, which it tries to involve in the production of knowledge. The collective shares a vision of democratic, dynamic, open, feminist science and the idea that it should contribute to improving society by creating a more critical and informed citizenry. FLandS is oriented from an interdisciplinary perspective towards the understanding of the fortified landscapes of Early Modern Age, and the interest in converting these landscapes into a sustainable socio-economic, tourist and cultural resource, where women play a central role.
One of the aspects that concerns both research structures is the absence of the female collective in the processes of production of knowledge related to Conflict Archaeology, as well as in the consumption of this archaeology as a topic of interest. With the idea of exploring this absence and stimulating reflection and interest on the part of women, an intervention carried out in a border area of Galicia by a team made up of members of RomanArmy, FLandS and the local communities, was used to produce a short film by a woman who was not involved in archaeology, the film director Sara Traba. We present the teaser of this audiovisual that reflects from the project on our activity, on how we interact with local communities, on the absence of women and the construction of narratives from archaeology.

Se presenta un audiovisual rodado durante la intervención llevada a cabo en un yacimiento de la frontera entre Galicia y el Norte de Portugal. La ausencia de su nombre es intencionada, el yacimiento no es el objetivo. El documental es una escusa para reflexionar desde el proyecto sobre nuestra actividad en arqueología del conflicto, sobre cómo nos relacionamos con las comunidades locales, sobre la ausencia de la mujer esta materia y sobre la construcción de relatos desde una arqueología representada fundamentalmente por hombres. ¿Por qué el colectivo femenino no está más presente en la producción de conocimiento? ¿Por qué no le interesa consumir este producto? En la presentación visualizaremos el corto y reflexionaremos sobre estos temas desde un trabajo realizados por el colectivo de investigación RomanArmy y desde el proyecto «Frontier landscapes in Early Modern Age: from Archaeology to Society (FLandS)».
It is presented an audiovisual filmed during the intervention carried out on an archaeological site on the frontier between Galicia and Northern Portugal. The absence of its name is intentional, the archaeological site is not the objective. The film is an excuse to reflect from the project on our activity in Conflict Archaeology, on how we interact with local communities, on the absence of women in this matter and on the construction of narratives from an archaeology represented mainly by men. Why is the female collective no more involved in the production of knowledge? Why is it not interested in consuming this product? In the presentation we will visualize the audiovisual and we will reflect on these themes, from a work carried out by the research collective RomanArmy and from the project «Frontier landscapes in Early Modern Age: from Archaeology to Society (FLandS)».
